Scandal Exposes Stupidity of Diversity-Based Hiring

The sad saga of former college
President
Stephanie Forsyth demonstrates the need
to hire on the basis of competence
rather than "Diversity" i.e. Illuminati social
engineering.

By Henry Makow Ph.D.

In 2010. Stephanie Forsyth ticked all the boxes when she was hired to be president of Winnipeg's Red River College, which has an enrollment of 30,000 students.

First and foremost, Forsyth was a woman! And she was a lesbian! A feminist! And despite blonde blue-eyed features, she claimed "Blackfoot ancestry."

However, she was let go in September partly for abusing her expense account. In spite of a $261,000 salary, ($100,000 more than the Premier of Manitoba), she claimed $200 golf shoes, her $50 driver's licence, and rentals for a wedding party. But the straw that broke the camel's back was a surplus marble counter top from the culinary school that was installed in her home. Happily, the school's cutlery was not pilfered.

Another problem was her management style which resulted in an exodus of senior administrators, and a demand by the employee union for a formal review, citing "low morale." In addition, Forsyth killed the lively college radio station because it was critical of the local establishment, especially the Mayor and the Winnipeg Free Press. This act deprived hundreds of students of practical training and the city of an independent voice.

EXPECTATIONS DASHED

In 2010, everything was full of promise when Forsyth was hired from Northwest Community College in Prince Rupert BC.

"I don't consider myself an academic. I'm first and foremost a practitioner," Forsyth told a reporter at the time.   Her office was "already adorned with a star blanket and pieces by aboriginal artisans."

"Indigenous spirituality, which is more a way of life than a religion, resonates with me," she said. "We need to be careful about balancing the environment with what we do. Are we the dominant species, or do we interact with all species?"

Forsyth's original degree was in religious studies, and her master's is in higher education.
Raised as a Mormon, she discovered her Blackfoot ancestry as an adult. She's worked closely with aboriginal people for decades, raised numerous aboriginal foster children, and was adopted into an aboriginal family in northern B.C. -- a rare honour, Forsyth said.

As discontent reached a peak last summer, Forsyth seemed unfazed. Winnipeg blogger Back Rod recounted the events before her departure:

"In June 2014, Forsyth's female spouse Debbie Scarborough became executive director of South Okanagan Women in Need Society (SOWINS) in Penticton, British Columbia. Stephanie is staying in Winnipeg and at Red River College. We are doing the distance thing and commuting," she stated July 3.

"On July 7, Forsyth, still expecting to keep her job, posted on her blog a policy change regarding application forms:

red-river-college-300x161.jpg"Continuing to Create an Open an Inclusive Campus July 7, 2014: I am pleased to announce that Red River College has a new application form that is gender inclusive. Now, when prospective students apply for programming at RRC, they will no longer be limited in their to choice to self-identify. Students will now be able to select if they are male, female, another gender identity (this may include Aboriginal two-spirit, transgender, and other), and they may also choose to decline to answer as well.

"She was still using her Red River twitter account on July 13 when she retweeted some inane messages about flying cars, roll-up televisions, and hot weather in B.C. Then sometime in the following three weeks the curtain came down on Forsyth's career at Red River College.

"By the first week of August, citizen journalists in Winnipeg had been alerted to the granite [counter top] trail, and were given the heads-up that "she will be leaving by the end of August."

Stephanie has sold her house and left town. Presumably, with new counter tops, she got her price.

Stephanie Forsyth has done a disservice to lesbians, feminists and aboriginals everywhere, and has damaged the cause of diversity, irretrievably we hope. Hiring should be based on qualifications and demonstrated ability alone, and not gender, color or sexual orientation.

I view this story in a bittersweet way, since I'm ecstatic that an organization that hires based on "diversity" got burned, yet I doubt they'll learn anything from it at all.

I am a victim of this diversity nonsense, so I feel no compunction in telling you that I hope more of these scandals occur.

As a white male of above-average intelligence and who possesses a drive to succeed, I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am that I cannot obtain a job within the financial sector, due to the fact I'm white.  I have all the required skills and a long employment history with my most recent employer (a large bank), where I was near the top of my field.

I cannot even get a company to call me in for an interview when I apply to a relevant position online.  I have a strong suspicion that I'm being weeded out by their "optional" diversity survey.

Having worked alongside quite a few immigrants in my time, I can tell you that management will almost always bend over backwards for these people and overlook many sins that white folks would not get away with.  Oftentimes, the managers are minorities themselves.

How can such a situation be just?  How can there be over a million Canadians unemployed or underemployed and yet we have a government that abandons all sense and brings in about 700,000 immigrants, TFWs, and foreign students a year?  The corporations play right along with it, since it works to their benefit.
No other people in the world would put up with this and, if mass immigration and "diversity" were forced on an African or Asian country, the usual suspects would be screaming that genocide were occurring.

I know many have been conditioned into believing that whites (and only whites) are racist, so it may sound racist to some when I ask, "Who will stand up for my people?"

Here I am in my own homeland and yet I've been pushed down to second-class citizen status.  Did we lose a war?

For $260,000 they could have hired someone who would put the school on the map instead of that fruitcake!

What was the hiring committee thinking?
