I have a great relationship with my animals. My dairy cow died last week. I cried. I feel a strong attachment to them, but let's not kid ourselves. Do you really think that these animals were put on this planet to be our buddies?

Not to mention that a vegan diet consists of highly processed foods, relying on the decimation of ecosystems to support the growth of gmo crops. (and pigs aren't themselves vegan)

Also, in light of what gay adoptive parents are capable of with human children in their care, do you imagine that their relationship with this animal is purely benevolent? Unless bred, a sow will be in heat every 3 weeks, and then it's party time. :D

In any case, presuming you don't feel that insects should be our friends too, there's always another way to get protein into your diet.
