I am a bit confused: The article on Frances Farmer says ...
"Frances Farmer had become a human vegetable, her memory destroyed and her brain barely functioning, she was no longer a threat to the Hollywood Communist conspirators.
A few months later, satisfied that her memory was gone, the CIA authorized Dr. Nicholson to release Frances Farmer. Her years of horror were over. On March 23, 1950, she left Steilacoom. She was only thirty-six years old.
Despite her ordeal, some traces of her former beauty remained, but when she tried to resume her acting career, she found she could not remember lines or follow directions. She died alone and in poverty in Indianapolis a few years later."
But in a TV program from 1958
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de00c3ggHLw) she doesn’t sound like a “vegetableâ€, though she may have been “mind programmedâ€.
For obvious reasons, she is playing along with the whitewashing of the institutions and people who destroyed her health and career, but is she really a brain-dead zombie? IMDb and Wikipedia says she died of cancer in 1970 (not “a few years laterâ€).
Quite a mystery, with elements enough for several Ph.D. theses!

Jessica Lange wasn’t afraid to play Francis Farmer in the movie titled “Francis†in 1982. The NY Times ‘82 article provided some details about Ms. Farmer’s life that coincides with Mullins’ article and comments posted here. All of which may be with some truth.
The NY Times article:-

But, when providing facts about a person’s life, particularly after
the fact, it is often too easy to want to jump to conclusions. Francis must have had a lot of enemies, for whatever reason. For that we can be sure. There is no mention of anyone fighting for her. Which is rather odd. Even if she was a ‘bitch’, no-one deserves to be treated like that. Francis is the result of something more serious than Communism. She may have threatened to tell ‘something’ which people in high-places did not want known. I suspect whatever that was, was the
reason for her demise which included the torture she endured.
By 2013, that ‘something’ has been revealed in “Eyes Wide Shutâ€, but then if it was told it would have had a markedly different effect than today, i.e. public outrage with inquiry.
Public outrage and inquiry seems to be a thing of the past. Soon to be obsolete it seems.

There was more to the Frances story. She was an up and coming power personality whose fame gave her unprecedented access to media as a social reformer. the entire establishment was terrified of her and hated her as a result.
Thanks Charlie

In light of what Dan and David said the Mullins story was not objectively complete. What happens to people is tied into their own beliefs and attitudes in some way, and should be shown if possible.
- The victimization of an individual may explain how the same principles are at work in the victimization of a nation, as might be seen in our various countries today. - Along this same line of thinking, is it possible that the problems inherent in western society and its christian church may be tied into the acceptance of the Jewish God?
Dear Michael-
Especially if the Jewish God is Lucifer. I don;t think Dan or David have proven they have the definitive truth. They may be performing a disservice by echoing the spin of the people who persecuted FF.

A good friend had a job at the federal prison for the criminally insane at Chester, Ill. He was appalled at the conditions. Many of the orderlies, he said were crazier than the inmates and so were the many of the psychiatrists.
Two orderlies locked him in a room with 2 sex crazed women and they nearly raped him, while they looked on through the window laughing at him. That was one month into the job and he went straight out and quit. He made some complaints to the "right people" but nothing was done.
These facilities do little but drug the inmates, often they leave in worse condition than when they entered.
A personal note: My mother was 9 years old when her mother went missing. Her father (who had a reputation as a sleazy lawyer) told her that her mother was dead and she was then put her into a Catholic boarding school. (and yes, those places are abusive towards the children).
9 years later my mother was speaking to a cousin, which said that her mother was in a mental institution. My mother was very surprised and the cousin asked her why she didn't know that?
She found her mother and in just weeks she had her mother released. She was not crazy. Her father (BTW a Jew and Nazi collaborator) had her mother institutionalized so he could get a divorce and and marry his maid whom he impregnated.
Francis Farmer was not the first conveniently put away, nor the last.

Just a couple of years ago I had a neighbour who received electric shock treatment during a temporary bout of depression resulting from the premature death of his wife.
The "treatment" turned him into a zombie, and just a few weeks later, he hanged himself.
He was a military veteran in his 40s or early 50s, physically fit, certainly not psychotic and showing no signs of mental illness prior to the ECT ("Electro-Convulsive Therapy"). He was grieving, but that was to be expected.
We continually hear that depression is an illness that must be treated, when in most cases the truth is that people are merely suffering natural anguish over things they can't control.
There are those who say "Freud" should really be spelled "Fraud", and I'm inclined to agree.

I have little doubt about most of what has been presented here.
I do, however, think that the portrait of this “innocent†girl has a serious omission.
Francis Farmer’s essay that won her the trip to Russia was entitled "God Dies". It was an attempt to “reconcile†the experience of a chaotic world and a loving God who seemingly never does anything about it.
She was influenced heavily by Nietzsche who, as you know stated “God is deadâ€.
Also missing was that farmer had multiple arrests prior to her being seen by the judge who committed her.

I consider myself quite well informed and i have never heard of this tragic woman.
Hollywood can be very very paranoid sometimes and it is possible to discern hidden truth in what they chose to disdain. Look what fabulous
efforts have been made to suppress the movie "Cloud Atlas" for example which hasn't even opened here in the UK yet.
Or how it was decided that the Mel Gibson film "how I spent my summer vacation" should be forcebombed in the UK the only showing was 0030
hrs on Sunday morning at my local cinema.
That what you get for upsetting Hollywood's Jewish moguls.
Keep shining a light few others do.

I've only recently become acquainted with the story of Francis Farmer after reading a biography on Kurt Cobain, singer for the grunge band Nirvana. He identified with the plight of Francis Farmer and named his daughter after her.
The torment Miss Farmer endured is disturbing. One can hope that she is in the good graces of God and living happily in her afterlife.
Dan said (February 8, 2013):
It's hard to tell how much Mullins got right. He's left out a lot of the story. Frances Farmer's fortunes began to change when she had an affair with Broadway playwright Clifford Odets. Frances really wanted to be stage actress, not Hollywood. Odets and stage director Harold Clurman gave her a chance to do that with staring roles in New York City's Group Theatre
But Odets was married and wouldn't divorce his wife, and dumped Frances. Because of this, Frances was shut out of the Group. She returned to Hollywood and continued to get lead movie roles because she got good box office. She became increasingly temperamental. She'd married actor Lief Erickson but they divorced in 1942. Later that year she was stopped by highway patrol in Santa Monica for driving with her high beams on in violation of wartime 'blackout'. She was verbally abusive so the cops charged her with intoxication and held her in jail overnight.
She was fined $500 and paid half to be released, but was later arrested for failing pay the other half. She resisted arrest, and caused a scene in the courtroom.
"Newspaper reports gave sensationalized accounts of her arrest." to say the least. Now, this is an interesting twist, her ex-husbands sister was a deputy sheriff in Los Angeles County, and as a 'family member' signed the commitment papers that transferred Frances from jail to the Psych Ward in L.A. General Hospital. They diagnosed her with with "manic depressive psychosis".
"Within days" she was sent to the Kimball Sanitarium in La Crescenta and diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and given 'shock treatments' with insulin injections to induce a comatose state. (Insulin shock therapy was featured and dramatized in the 2001 film A Beautiful Mind. The only countries still doing this are China and Russia.)
Of course from then on Farmer was incarcerated and re-incarcerated until 1953, which suddenly she was released and left alone.
The circumstances of Farmer's downfall between 1939-1943 sound plausible, but from the moment her "sister-in-law" signed her into the LA psych ward it smacks of conspiracy to label her crazy and keep her locked away. I'd like to know who put the sister-in-law up to it, and who the doctors were that made the diagnosis. notice how that upped the diagnosis from manic depression to paranoid schizophrenic in a matter of days. It's fishy, because there's really nothing in her history to indicate schizophrenia. As for paranoid, well, just because you're paranoid in Hollywood doesn't mean they're not really out to get cha.

Analytick said (February 17, 2013):
Mr. Mullins essentially was a decent writer and enjoyable to read. Unfortunately, to make a point, he would, more often than not, leave out facts and (2) add data to support whatever hypotheses he had at the time. This Frances Farmer piece is, indeed, a perfect example of EM's thought paradigms.
What Mullins wrote correctly here was: (1) That Frances Farmer did visit the USSR (this was the key that opened her acting door); (2) She was beautiful; (3) She laboured in both Hollywood and NY (two centers of Zionistic ant hills); and (3) She was subjected to the insanity of Freud's impaired mindset. Despite the Hollywood sensationalism of the 1920s, back in the 1930s most women were mothers and wives. They did not run around with the Hollywood and NYC film gangs.
Lastly, Mullins did some good in his life. It's appropriate that Mullins mentioned the results of the 1929 Wall Street induced crash, dual loyalty of red cells and the complete farce of the lobotomy experimentation. It's amazing those responsible never were incarcerated. Seems our Western civilization has evolved from Freudian mental health glorification to neocon WMD's never-ending wars.
