Diet is Key to Spiritual Advancement

TAIWAN- Upon reviewing your pointed article, "How to Worship God", I felt there was a point of practical importance that you might want to append to that. Diet.
How can a man, or woman, or child (especially), who does not consume the necessary nutrition for the body be expected also to pay attention to the soul?
I have lived in Taiwan for some time. Several years ago, I thought I was dying. I had severe pain in my lungs daily, and each afternoon and evening I was overwhelmed by drowsiness and lethargy. Lines had appeared on my forehead. I suffered gastrointestinal enteritis three times, in six months.
I once heard a speaker state, "People tend to stay where they are, until the pain of where they are is estimated to be greater than the pain of change." I expect that that is generally true. In any case, I finally took it to heart, and I took control of my diet.
This action, has transformed my life. Constant close attention to what I eat, how I eat, and when I eat, has revitalized a body and mind. The lines have disappeared from my face. The pain and lethargy are gone. I look great and feel good. My exercise capability has tripled. I research what is good for me to consume, and I incorporate that into my diet. I am what I eat. That's a fact.
When I recommend nutritional caution to anyone here, it's perceived as elitism. People can't stand that I eat right, while they eat shit.
I have a wife. Bet your ass we eat right. I care about her health, because digestion is everything. It affects the mind, it affects the mood, it affects mental state, it affects the ability to think logically and clearly, it affects our relationship, and a right diet is worth the pain of change.
I'm a teacher. I daily suffer the sight of lazy, ignorant parents who bring their children to my school, with a cluster of McDonald's bags in their hands. If you guessed that their children are the low performers in my classes....
We expend much energy over the corruption of the soul. Corruption of the body is perhaps not exactly as critical, but it is primary; in fact, often, it is the corruption of the body, not just sexually, but in bare terms of food consumption, which makes spiritual corruption far easier to perform in the longer term.
Diet Recommendation:
Stay away from these "food" items and components, because even if you can't feel it, they are killing you:
gluten; refined sugar; preservatives (of any kind); other chemical food additives (of any kind); nutritionally unnecessary oils; processed soy products; processed meat; pork (do some research - stay away from it);
beef (same thing); canned fish and vegetables (mercury); any juices produced in a factory; carbohydrate-heavy foods such as bread and pasta.
To build a reliably healthy diet, follow these rules (allergy-prone individuals may have to double-check with a physician and a professional nutritionist):
1. Take in as broad of protein sources as possible, without consuming damaging protein sources. Fish, nuts of all kinds, dark or black chocolate, occasional chicken and chicken liver, cod liver and cod liver oil, black beans (and other beans), real butter (yes), fruits, and vegetables. Kelp is a fantastic source of protein and non-heme iron. Don't forget chicken eggs: you need that. If you include protein drinks, you're taking a risk on liver and kidney damage in the long run, so be careful.
2. Make your diet 75% completely fruit and vegetable. Get a blender. Wash everything thoroughly, and throw it all in there together. Figure out what you like, make blends, and sip from it all day. Focus on cooked broccoli and tomato (do some research), carrot, celery, apple, orange, lemon, blueberry, strawberry, cranberry, banana (but watch the potassium draw), and anything that has strong colors. Don't take off the fruit peels when you blend oranges and such, because you need the pectin in the peels. Don't like the taste? Grow up. Get used to it. You'll learn to like it. Include cabbage and cauliflower in your cooked meals.
3. For carbohydrate intake, choose sweet potatoes or yams. They'll give you what you need, and the mineral nutrition is incredible. Cut bread out - it's useless. Of course athletes may need additional sources, such as high-quality wheat pasta.
4. Avoid most or all grains. If you insist on having some grains, go for purple or black rice. Unless you have unusual needs, grains in general are not necessary, and they may aggravate developmental nervous disorders.
5. Make the following items part of your daily intake. Please don't blither and act like a child, when I tell you this. I don't want to hear any complaints about "the taste" or "the difficulty". You're going to do it, or you're not. But you don't have to answer to me, so I'll shut up. Here are some of the things you should be consuming daily:
2-4 cloves of raw garlic; half an onion; two tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil; one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar; one strongly-colored vegetable
one glass of red wine (or real grape juice); half a teaspoon of cinnamon, mixed in two tablespoons of unboiled honey; half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (obviously, this can't be taken straight);
6. Drink green tea all day. ALL DAY. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS POINT ENOUGH. Make it from actual leaves and not teabags, if you can. Drink it from when you get up, and until a reasonable time in the evening that won't interfere with your night's sleep. I recommend making your green tea water with softly boiled ginger (new or dried). This may provide a significant anti-bacterial boost to your immune system.
Don't drink it during meals, because it will block needed iron absorption, so wait an hour. Green tea is your best friend: it removes metals, blocks oxidation, and supports the brain.
7. Supplement your green tea intake with a lot of water. So what if you have to pee more often? You're getting the "other" stuff out, and that's what peeing is for. Try to appreciate what your body is doing for you.
This is my offering to you, and I wish you the best. Take care of yourself, and your loved ones.

In regard to eating right I would like you to read a book by Robyn O'Brien called "The Unhealthy Truth:How Our Food Is Making Us Sick and What We can Do About It." And I agree with the article here that there is a connection to trying to eat healthy and spirituality.. We are temples of the Holy Spirit and we should honor these temples by keeping them in in good health . "Lord Jesus, I am not worthy that Thou should come under my roof , Say but Thy Word and I shall be healed."
