I disagree with that perspective. Being more cunning does not equate to true intelligence or a meaningful contribution, and most people choose not to operate that way. For example, the formula E=mc² was published by an Italian scientist years before Einstein claimed it, and its practical utility is questionable.

Should we admire Edward Bernays or Henry Kissinger for their lifetime of work? Should we praise the Irgun and Stern gangs as highly intelligent simply because they bombed a hotel and successfully covered it up?

The same applies to figures like Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, or Bill Gates—whose Microsoft Word software remains frustratingly subpar (I remember wordperfect). I simply do not see the great contributions we are being told to admire.

What other names should we discuss? Is Freud significant? I believe his work is mostly ignored right now, other than in popular memes about psychiatry. Is Maxwell significant for controlling academic publications for decades? I don't think we are better off because of his contribution, though I guess that could be debated.

Is the central banking scam intelligent or just brute-force bullying? If you read the most honest books on the creation of the Federal Reserve (Eustace Mullins for example), you would think its formation seemed pretty gangsterish. Was the end of lighter-than-air travel a big advancement? The hindenburg event could be creditably attributed to terrorism. It was effective.

I guess we could say that suppressing all discussion of how sidelining the Bank of Canada in 1974 plunged Canada into an untrammelled debt spiral was somewhat sophisticated.

Peer-reviewed articles about the boondoggle were published in credible journals at the time. We know how international finance works, though. So, Canada was probably read the riot act and quickly fell into line. Is that a sign of intelligence? Not for me.

How about the polio vaccine. They renamed the symptoms and thereby cured the disease. Who would think of that I wonder.

I wonder how Hitler knew how to use music to manipulate crowds. I guess that is intelligent. Since he wasn't a research scientist, I would have to think he was doing what he was told. Reading people's emails is intelligent I guess because you end up sorting through a lot of drivel to find useful bits of data. Seems perverse somehow.

IQ is a flawed way of evaluating intelligence and doesn't account for out of the box thinking that primarily arises from intuition, flashes of imagination, dreams and visions.

Testing people for math puzzles, verbal proficiency, structured logic as done by IQ tests doesn't reveal the true creative powers of a person.

An unschooled peasant may have brilliant insights into farming, water conservation, animal husbandry, sewing, architecture, manual machineries, natural cures, waste management and more. Most genius inventers were barely schooled or were school dropouts. PhD holders are not held in awe nor are they in demand by industry where cutting edge practical skills, leadership and networking are in demand not scribbling theorems on paper - if I give a person all the possible science equations and mathematical models and ask her or him to devise a piece of machinery, assemble it or repair it, the person will be at a loss and remain stuck on paper.

At the very most, theory gives the limits below or beyond which a project is not feasible and then too this may not be the case as nature has strange ways of hiding secrets which is why our values of the physical constants have kept changing as experiments come up with newer values refining or overthrowing the old.
